In keeping with US soccer player development curriculum Zone 2 (U13+) starts the “train to compete” phase of player development.

Get to Know 90+ / Assessment days are an opportunity for players not connected to the 90+ Project to learn more about our Project, experience our training environment and be assessed for inclusion on Developmental or Advanced teams at the U13+ age groups.   

Players currently on a 90+ Project team at these ages will attend the assessment days as a training and to give new players a way of experiencing the culture and training of the 90+ Project.

Open Assessment Days are scheduled below:

U14-U18 Girls: May 27th 6pm-730pm
Hart Field on 33rd Ave Across from Sacajawea Middle School

FAQ’s

Are there Assessment Days for Zone 1 players? No. Zone One has an intentional focus of learning. The goals are to enjoy playing the sport, to build community, to fall in love with the game, to be curious, develop character, leadership and mental wellness and to commit to a growth mindset.

Why does 90+ hold a no tryouts / no cuts methodology? We are committed to player development! We do everything in our power to develop people and players and believe that many others give up on players far too soon. Many of the best players in the world started on “B” teams.

Why wait until Zone 2 to host assessment days? In Zone 1 we affirm the research that suggests players are not psychologically developed enough to best handle assessments and team placements. Look at the drop off rate of players before Zone 2 starts and you will see a group of players losing the joy of play and giving up the game. There is no need to implement this sooner, unless the only goal is to win games at young ages, often forgoing development for “success”.

What actually are “ZONES” and what does that mean? The United States Soccer Federation has developed curriculum for youth soccer player development. Best practice is to utilize this methodology and incorporate it into our philosophy, play model and holistic youth development material.

Does my current 90+ player attend the Assessment Day? Players currently on a 90+ Project team at these ages will attend the assessment days as a training and to give new players a way of experiencing the culture and training of the 90+ Project.

Why do you only give assessments to players not a part of 90+? Because we are always assessing our players. Our developmental and advanced teams provide written and in person assessments throughout the year so there is no need to have a day for another assessment.

Once Assessed, what happens next? If 90+ is in need of adding players at your child’s age group, you will be asked to fill out an application and potentially assigned to a team. Players are assigned to teams that best reflect their ability, athletic intention and produce the best level of player safety. If assigned to a team you will be sent a registration link and invited into the 90+ soccer community.
